My Daddy used to read me this story. It was in a book that was a collection of Fairy Tales and childrens stories. I've used the monsters names in stories that I'd tell my children often. I remember the boys were looking for a snack. Great memory. I would love to run across the book.

Fierce Fred was the other one and they sang: we're off to find a snack, a hasty tasty snack, but we rumble in jungle we'll be coming back!
Really want to find the story to read to my nephew but don,t know who wrote it?

Hi again!
The kids' book is older - early 60s at the MOST recent. The three
monsters were...
Piggymossum
Guggly Ugly
Roaring Snerk
Three 'heroes....
Deadeye Dick
The Shadow
and a third kid.
The title MAY have been "Three Boys In A Tree," and it MAY have been
part of an anthology back then - full title is unknown, but the last
two words are PROBABLY "...Read Aloud." The only letters visible are
"...ad aloud."
Can anyone recognize this info? MAN! I hope so! 10 years searching,
and I've only found two people other than myself who are familiar at
all with it. What are the chances we're ALL doing the SAME DRUGS???
Thanks very much!
Mike
I try to track down the same one from time to time as well, my dad had a copy from when he was a kid, missing a page, another missing a chunk...anyway, he filled in some details and it was enough for me to search and find this http://www.loganberrybooks.com/solved-t.html
If you scroll down you'll find "Three Boys in a Tree" and it references a few sources, I think magazines, but what sounds right to me is "More Bedtime Stories to Read Aloud." Maybe that's the one you had, too?
Looks like the author of the story is Barbee Oliver Carleton.

Good luck!
